Introduction

Transportation authorities in France planned to implement an environmental tax for all HGVs (heavy goods vehicles) when traveling across a network of national highways totaling over 1500 kilometers in length.

System Requirements

	Gigabit fiber network backbone to transmit large volumes of data back to the main control center
	Wide-temperature tolerance for outdoor operation
	Rugged and compact design for installation in roadside cabinets

Moxa Solution

Multiple modularized cabinets are installed atop over 150 gantries throughout the national highway system.

Inside the roadside cabinet, the ioLogik E1212-T Ethernet remote I/O connects to humidity/temperature sensors and intrusion detection for cabinet environmental monitoring to enhance equipment safety and reliability.
In addition, all Moxa&rsquo;s models feature -40 to 75oC wide temperature tolerance to perform reliably without air conditioning in severe highway operating conditions.

Why Moxa

	The EDS-510A-3GT-T & EDS-G509-T provide Gigabit Ethernet ports to support massive video and data transmissions
	The EDS-G509-T supports fiber interface for long distance transmission
	Future proof IPv6 ready
	All Moxa products are available in wide-temperature (-40 to 75&deg;C) models, and feature long MTBF for high reliability

        <title>Remote I/O Facilitates Effective Condition Monitoring on Trains</title>
        <link>https://switches.shop/blog/remote-i-o-facilitates-effective-condition-monitoring-on-trains</link>
        <description>
	Application - Onboard Condition Monitoring Systems
	Industry -&nbsp;Rail&nbsp;
	Region - Germany
	&nbsp;

Introduction

In order to create a comfortable travel experience for passengers, operators often use remote I/O devices to control and monitor onboard systems to ensure they operate smoothly.

System Requirements

	Devices designed in accordance with the EN 50155 standard and a rugged design to withstand harsh onboard environments
	Remote I/O devices with a compact form factor that can fit inside small cabinets on trains
	Daisy-chain network topology to remove the need for extra wires and reduce costs

Moxa Solution

In order to enhance passenger safety, there are multiple systems on trains such as HVAC, lighting control, door control, and fire detectors that require reliable remote I/O to control system operations and monitor the status of devices.

The compact form factor of the ioLogik E1500 Series made it ideal for deployment in train cabinets that had space constraints.

Why Moxa

	Products with a rugged metal case that comply with the relevant portions of the EN 50155 standard to ensure suitability for use on trains
	Compact design that fits easily into cabinets on trains
	Daisy-chain network topology that reduces costs
	Channel-to-channel isolation (DI only)
	PCBA coating to ensure smooth operations in harsh environments
	Quick customization and ongoing support

        <title>Building Reliable Connectivity for Road Condition Monitoring</title>
        <link>https://switches.shop/blog/building-reliable-connectivity-for-road-condition-monitoring</link>
        <description>
	Application - Road Condition Monitoring
	Industry -&nbsp;Intelligent Transportation&nbsp;
	Region - Lithuania
	&nbsp;

Introduction

The Lithuanian road administration wanted to provide drivers with real-time road and weather condition updates on their website to improve the travel experience.

System Requirements

	Connect various sensors inside space-constrained roadside cabinets
	Simple control logic to trigger alarms when needed
	Receive real-time information through cellular networks

Moxa Solution

Our OnCell 5104-HSPA cellular routers, ioLogik E2242-T remote I/Os, and NPort 5150A-T serial device servers were used to connect these field devices and transmit both sensor and image data back to traffic control center via cellular networks.

For smooth data transmissions, our cellular routers support 4 Ethernet ports to get serial, I/O, and video data online and built-in dual-SIM redundancy so that operators can create a backup cellular link in case one of the telecom services becomes unavailable.

Why Moxa

	One-stop shop for serial device servers, remote I/Os, and cellular routers
	Supports IF-THEN-ELSE control logic rules with our Click & Go function
	Dual-SIM design for cellular link redundancy by providing a backup connection when one link goes down
